I breed for quality while working with primarily hard-to-find genes from my own very-established bloodlines. Pricing reflects the years and years of my own work behind each animal I place, the genes I offer, and the high expense of raising animals. Young rats range $75-$300 each. Retired or older rats range lower. See the Bloodlines section for more pricing details. I charge sales tax (required by the state) with my state-issued certificate of authority. There's also a $16 fee per adoption for the required carrier and transition food.
To apply for an animal(s), go to the contact section and answer the questionnaire. I require an image of your ID (license, state, or passport) with your application. This is to prove your claimed identity. Send it by the contact section with your application or by email as a regular file attachment. My response time will vary, but most inquiries can expect a fairly quick reply. Please re-email if you do not hear back in more than 36 hours. If it's a holiday or holiday season, a delayed response may occur.
Communication is via email by longislandratbreeder@gmail.com. For rats labeled as available to new inquiries, applications are accepted through the contact website section. If you have a recent application on file, send me an email about the rats you wish to reserve. ***Please be sure you're able to pickup on the next offered appointment date or please ask for possible boarding before reserving.*** If the rats are still available, you'll be given deposit directions by paypal in my reply. Do NOT attempt to send a deposit without APPROVAL and direction. Rats listed on the website are available fist come first serve to approved homes. Until a deposit is provided, rats remain available to be reserved by any approved home. For deposits, I only accept payments by paypal friends and family because the default requires a tracking number. Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable once provided.
(The waitlist is currently not in operation. At this time, all rats are listed first come first serve to approved homes). WWC offers a pay-to-join structured waitlist which gives signups special priority over newly listed rats. Signups are alerted to new availability and have the option to reserve or pass on them before the rats are then offered to new inquiries. Each waitlist signup is application to one of my offered bloodlines and requires $20 to join. This payment is not credited toward the rats.
Pickups occur on scheduled appointment dates which are typically Saturday mornings, but pickups are occasionally offered on other days and times of day. The planned pickup day may be included in the animals' website listing information. Please be sure you can pickup on the next appointment day before reserving. Delayed pickup may be available with a boarding cost to cover the expense and time to care for reserved rats past the next pickup date.
I guarantee your WWC rats to have good temperaments and behavior applicable until a year of age with some exceptions. The health of the rats is guaranteed for four days after pickup. Health issues and long term temperament issues are increasingly extremely rare from my lines. For more information regarding guarantees and disclaimers, request to see the White Wolf Critters contract.
I do my best to support you with your critter(s), even years after you've adopted from me, but medical questions may best be answered by an exotic vet. I cannot always get back to emails in time. Emergency situations should be vet-advised and addressed.
Without adopter support, my program wouldn't be able to continue. Thank you for supporting an ethical breeder!
